2017 Brought a New Practice Area, ITSM Best Practices, and Much More

2017 proved that things aren’t slowing down any time soon in Telecom Management. ITSM became our newest practice area as we started to see vendors coming into this space and enterprises looking to better understand how it fits into their business. Along with that we added a number of tools, services and courses around ITSM best practices. And in the vendor landscape we saw a number of consolidations and with that, a maturing of service offerings.

In our research and advisory group, we introduced our fifth research area in the Fixed and Mobile Telecom Management Ecosystem, ITSM. IT service management (ITSM) software allows enterprises to streamline procurement, assignment, delivery, and support for a range of devices and services, and provides functionality that helps them deliver services to end users. Our first ever ITSM Market Landscape report evaluates six key trends, and provides profiles and AOTMP perspective on 17 ITSM vendors and solutions. We anticipate this to be a year where creating a Telecom Management Center of Excellence becomes an essential part of the mandate for eliminating manual processes, embracing the cloud, and navigating the new digital world that includes AI and connected devices. IT and telecom will face steeper skills shortages as technology changes ever faster, making upskill and cross-skill training a key initiative in 2018.
