Q:  What are the benefits of 5G?

A: 5G wireless standards are still being defined, but the benefits that have been outlined include low latency (<1ms), up to 10 gigabit speeds, 1,000 times more network capacity and support for over 100 billion connections. These benefits equate to a more accessible network for multimedia communications by more users and 5G offers the potential for being a viable replacement wireline technology.

Q: What does ILEC detariffing mean for customers?

A: Tariffs are vehicles to create price and service transparency in low or non-competitive environments. As competition has increased, regulators have opted to detariff and reduce regulations for how ILECs price service offerings. The impact to customers is likely positive, as competition will drive carriers to remain price competitive to retain and grow market share.
