Training Smart: How Content & Experience Are Keys To Success

I was reading an article this week from the Chicago Tribune where Paul McDonald, a senior executive of the staffing firm Robert Half, said “If companies want to retain the best workforce, they need to look beyond what’s best for the company,” McDonald says. “They need to make sure that their employees feel valued and challenged. They need to put programs in place that make their individual employees increase their knowledge and their experience. They need to value the worth of the individual as much as they value the worth of the company.”

That really made me think about how can companies achieve those results. We hear so much about training and retention but what does that really mean. For me, the key to training is in the content and how it is delivered. I love the quote from Christopher Pappas that says “When it comes to eLearning, content means everything. If eLearning content is not masterfully designed, all the rest will just go down the drain.”
