AOTMP® Master Certification is ideal for people currently in technology leadership role focused on technical, financial, operational, or business results as well as and those seeking a career in a technology leadership role

Certification requirements.

These other requirements must be met in addition to to passing the certification exam.

1. Submit three (3) reference letters.

Three (3) reference letters must be provided attesting to your experience and contributions to Telecom, Mobility & IT Management Center of Excellence strategy and strategy execution. Two (2) reference letters must come from peers. One (1) reference letter must come from your supervisor, manager, or a senior leader.Reference letters must contain the following information:

  • Name, title and contact information of the person providing the reference letter.
  • A statement of the relationship between you and the person providing the reference.
  • Reasons the person providing the reference letter believes you are qualified to earn AOTMP® Master Certification.

2. Submit one (1) case study.

One (1) case study must be provided that demonstrates your knowledge of Efficiency First® principles as they apply to Telecom, Mobility & IT Management Center of Excellence strategy or strategy execution. The case study must contain and clearly articulate:

  • Business problem identified (1,000 words max).
  • Strategy implemented (up to 1,000 words max).
  • Your role in the solution implemented (1,000 words max).
  • Results achieved (1,000 words max).

 

Other materials such as published articles, project summaries, executive summaries, etc., can also be provided as supporting documentation.

3. Pass certification exam.

A result of 80% or greater is required to pass.

Exam outline and focus areas.

To pass the exam, you will need to demonstrate knowledge and understand key concepts of the Efficiency First® Framework and apply learnings to specific Telecom, Mobility & IT Management Center of Excellence strategy scenarios and situations. Areas of exam focus include:

  • Identifying the Guiding Principles of the Efficiency First® Framework and interpreting them in specific Center of Excellence strategy situations.

  • Identifying characteristics of Telecom, Mobility & IT Portfolio Areas.

  • Identifying Optimization Focus Area components and interpreting them in specific Center of Excellencestrategy situations.

  • Identifying Transformation Focus Area components and interpreting them in specific Center of Excellence strategy situations.

  • Identifying and interpreting the role of each Stakeholder Group.

  • Recognizing the Performance Index measurement and recalling its four components.

  • Recognizing the Optimization Potential measurement and recalling its components.

  • Recognizing the Transformation Potential measurement and recalling its components.

  • Identifying Continuous Improvement Approachconcepts and applying them to specific Center of Excellence strategy situations.

  • Identifying the Core Management Technologies and interpreting utilization in specific Center of Excellence strategy situations.

  • Identifying Other Data Sources and Systems and interpreting utilization in specific Center of Excellencestrategy situations.

  • Recognizing characteristics of a Master System of record.

  • Identifying recommended practice area Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and interpreting metric results.

  • Identifying Center of Excellence Performance Maturity Stages and interpreting stage elements.

  • Identifying Accountability Roles across a Center of Excellence.

  • Identifying RASCI concepts as they apply to a Center of Excellence.

Preparing for your exam.

The recommended three-step approach to learning the key concepts of the Efficiency First® Framework in preparation for the exam is as follows:

1. Study the Guidebook.

Start from the beginning (Guiding Principles) and continue sequentially through each section covered by the exam. Then, review sections as required until the concepts are familiar and can be recited with confidence. 

2. Enforce Efficiency First® Framework principles.

Use concepts outlined in the Guidebook and complete the provided templates from Alignment Resources (Appendix A, B & F) to document a familiar Telecom. Mobility, and IT Management practice. Review continuous improvement actions outlined in the Alignment Resource (Appendix D) to challenge your knowledge of Efficiency First® Framework principles applied to a Telecom, Mobility & IT Management Center of Excellence. Revisit sections of the Guidebook as required to complete the exercise and enforce retention of key concepts.

3. Review areas of focus.

Study the exam outline above. Revisit sections of the Guidebook as required until the concepts are familiar and can be recited with confidence.
